Questions

How do I join the beta?

MiniJack is in beta on TestFlight, Apple's app for testing apps before release. Write to minijack@kiwiprojekt.pl and you'll get an invitation by email.

Which devices does MiniJack run on?

iPhone and iPod touch with iOS 15 or later. The 7th-generation iPod touch works, and every screen is laid out for its 4-inch display.

How do I add my server?

Open the menu (the key at the top left), choose Sources, then Add Server. Enter the address, your username and your password or API key. MiniJack tests the connection, then syncs your library.

My server is at home and uses http. Will it work?

Yes, on your home network: plain http works for local addresses such as 192.168.1.20 or nas.local. A server reached over the internet needs https with a certificate iOS accepts. iOS refuses plain http and self-signed certificates on public addresses.

I use a self-signed certificate.

On your home network MiniJack shows the certificate's fingerprint and asks once whether to trust it. After that it accepts only that certificate for that server. If the certificate changes, MiniJack asks again.

My server says the password is wrong, but it's right.

LMS, Nextcloud Music and Ampache don't take the account password from apps like MiniJack. Create an API key in the server's settings and enter it as the password. Funkwhale has its own Subsonic password in its settings.

How do I add music files to the device?

Choose Add files in the menu and pick files or folders from the Files app, or open an audio file from the Files app with MiniJack. You can also make, rename and move folders in the Library's Folders view.

Some songs from my Music app are missing.

MiniJack can play songs synced to the Music app from a computer. Songs protected with DRM and songs that are only in the cloud can't be played by any other app, so they're left out.

Does MiniJack collect any data?

No. There's no account, no analytics and no ads. MiniJack talks only to the servers you add. See the privacy policy.

What will MiniJack cost?

The beta is free. When it is released, MiniJack will be a free download with an hour of listening, then a one-time purchase to keep it. No subscription.

How do I report a bug?

In the TestFlight app, take a screenshot in MiniJack and tap Share Beta Feedback, or write to minijack@kiwiprojekt.pl. Say what you did, what happened, your device and iOS version, and your server type if a server is involved.
